I’m sad beyond belief that C4 is gone. Not in that way that you’re sad when you try to go to that restaurant that you went to that one time and got a hankering for again but when you showed up it was closed but in the way you were when you found out Santa Claus wasn’t real. C4 was my geek Christmas, but Santa just isn’t coming anymore.
I give my heartfelt gratitude to the C4 volunteers, speakers and attendees.
This is the kind of sentiment that made C4 simply great. Wolf thanks everyone else, but we all know that without Wolf, there would have been no volunteers, speakers, or attendees. Well, there might have been but they’d have spent three days playing tiddlywinks at Einstein’s until O’Toole’s opened up. Or something.
The best thing I can say about C4 is that I know it changed many lives for the better, including mine.
I know that it changed my life for the better too. When I went to C4 in 2008, it was on a student scholarship that was graciously sponsored by Andre Pang (then of Realmac and now of Pixar) and I had only the gut feeling that I wanted to write software for the Mac and be part of this great community. Less than two months later, I had joined the Agile Web Solutions team. I get to do what I love every day and this is in no small part due to the commitment Wolf has shown to this community. More than anything, C4 confirmed for me that this is a community that I want to be a part of, expand, and improve. Thanks for everything, Wolf.
